SAM_6137On Thursday, May 30, community leaders in opposition of the Cerro Blanco mine from Guatemala and El Salvador held a protest in the community of Asuncion Mita and the site of the Cerro Blanco mine. Around 60 people attended the march, holding signs reading, “No to metallic mining in Guatemala!  Yes to fair development! Yes to forests! Yes to water! Yes to life!”

The Cerro Blanco mine is own by Canadian gold mining company, Goldcorp.
