Hello everyone! We’ve had some busy past few days here in Guatemala, we are all safe, well fed and we are learning so much. On Sunday we visited the CCDA, where we learned all about the economic and political involvements of this incredible organisation and also saw demonstrations of fish farming, snail farming and water cress. Monday involved a truck ride through the mountainous landscape (we even saw a volcano erupting!!) and a trip to IMAP where we learned about permaculture and different ways to maintain a sustainable lifestyle. Later that day we also participated in a Mayan ceremony which cleansed our pathways. Today we did a market exercise where we were all given 10 quetzals to buy a meal for a family, and learned about the economic struggles of many Guatemalans. We then headed back to Guatemala City and visited the National Police Archives where we had a tour of the millions of documents which were hidden by the government, and which are currently being used to bring human rights violators to justice. We are all having an amazing experience and we can’t wait to share all we’ve learned here with everyone back home!
