Antigonish Committee Event a Success!

BTS Latin American Cafe:
On the evening of Sunday, March 22, local BTS committee members hosted the Antigonish community for a night of reflecting, sharing stories, and laughter. Many community members braved the blustery East Coast weather to gather together in solidarity in support of the Fundacion Nueva Esperanza for a night that shone in many colours. The evening began with smells of Latin inspired foods and the sounds of Bossa Nova. Many performers shared their talents throughout the course of the evening, and the audience was entertained with heartfelt reflections, beautiful voices joining in song, and salsa dancing demos followed by an interactive salsa lesson. A strong sense of community was certainly palpable throughout the room as the event took place. Children were even offered the opportunity to learn more about BTS’ partners in Guatemala through engaging in activities with a Latin theme.
The event’s success would not have been possible without the commitment of several StFX service learning students working with BTS this semester, as well as the unfailing dedication of local BTS members. A huge thank you goes out to all who attended!
