JOIN INVITED GUEST CRISANTA PEREZ AND THE BTS COMMUNITY
BTS friends, plan now to attend the Breaking the Silence Annual Gathering. After a wonderful celebration of 25 years last June, we now want and need your participation as we begin to shape our work for another 25 years! The gathering is always a great time to renew commitment to solidarity with Guatemalan partners and friends, to gain new learnings and updates, to re-connect with the BTS community and to have fun. Your participation matters!
This year we are inviting a very special guest, Crisanta Perez. She is an active member of FREDEMI, an alliance of community organizations from the municipality of San Miguel Ixtahuacán, San Marcos, that works to promote indigenous rights to land and water. Crisanta is also the vice-president of the local development council (COCODE) of her community. She has shown an extraordinary commitment to advocating for the rights of her community, in particular access to clean water and women’s rights. She is also a wife, mother, and grandmother who is driven by the desire to ensure the protection of land and water for future generations.
