Sorry for cross postings ~please share

Dear BTS friends,

Though you may have heard about the current situation at Tatamagouche Centre, we wish to write to you today to share with the BTS network the news that the Tatamagouche Centre is facing uncertain times and as a result, the Board of Directors has had to make some difficult decisions. With end of September layoffs for TC staff, there are many unanswered questions about the future. The TC Board, through a letter to its members on Tuesday, July 21 (found here) is proposing a TC community meeting sometime in August, which we hope many people from BTS will consider attending. Members of the BTS Coordinating Committee have also been in meetings with members of the TC Board of Directors to discuss the impacts that decisions being made will have on the BTS network in the short and long term.
We finds ourselves in a unique situation. Although we work closely with Tatamagouche Centre staff, BTS volunteers have worked hard to assure funding for staff and all other activities of the network. At the same time, we have depended on, and paid for, Tatamagouche Centre staff to carry out the financial administration of our work. This includes receiving donations and giving charitable receipts, keeping track of the staffing fund and general fund, paying staff and their related expenses monthly, and issuing income tax statements. We have also received administrative and program support and acknowledge and honour the relationship that has been developed over the years.

We know that TC staff will be laid off on September 30; we are unsure as to the decisions beyond that date and their implications for BTS. Tatamagouche Centre has played an integral role for BTS over the years; many of us would likely not be part of BTS were it not for the experiences that have been fostered there.
We are sending a call out now to see if we can find a small group of dedicated people who would be willing to work on helping us explore how to move forward. We need your support in finding a way to move forward that supports both BTS and Tatamgouche Centre, while living our values and vision with integrity. We need you to be part of that.

We hope that a small group of people can be identified by the end of the day Tuesday, July 28. If you are interested in being a member of this group, please contact jackie at btsguatemala@gmail.com or 902-324-2584. We anticipate the first phone call will take place between Wednesday and Friday with the idea of coming together in person afterwards. The hope is to spend some time brainstorming ideas that can be later presented to the broader BTS community, at an in person meeting to share information with the network, possibly Sunday, August 29.
Please respond directly to Jackie by Tuesday, July 28th at btsguatemala@gmail.com or 9023242584 if you can help us be part of this important process.
Feel free to write with questions or doubts.
