Dear Friends,
After conversations with the CCDA (the Highlands Committee of Small Farmers), longtime BTS partner in Guatemala, we feel the best way to support communities affected by the eruption of the Volcan de Fuego is to send donations through the CCDA. Several communities affected by the Volcan de Fuego are supported by the CCDA, who is actively supporting victims and survivors, including setting up a donations centre. In some communities where there were no fatalities, residents are deeply concerned at the loss of homes and livelihoods. A CCDA representative has said residents no longer want to stay in the communities close to Ground Zero. The CCDA recognizes that support work may likely include long term work to support communities in relocation and access to land.
If you wish to contribute, please donate through Canada Helps. Funds received will be transferred to the CCDA by Tatamagouche Centre. You will immediately receive an income tax receipt. https://www.canadahelps.org/en
With gratitude for supporting this important work
