Buenos Días everyone!

It has been an action packed first week so I haven’t had much time (or service) to send updates but there will be more to come from the group as the second half of the trip is a little lighter for both scheduling and travelling.

I can’t believe we’re already on day 7 of this BTS delegation! We got up bright and early at Casa San Benito in Guatemala City this morning. We had a great brekkie- coffee, hueveros rancheros, tortillas (as always!) beans, tomatoes & cheese. We got all packed up and are on the bus to our next home away from home at the Pavarotti School in San Lucas Toliman.

One of my favourite moments so far was hiking to the top of Kayup in Rabinal and visiting the ancient Maya site at the summit. Our hiking guide, Wilson, was an incredible story teller and talked about the history, culture and folklore of his ancestors.

Today we’re on our way to visit Yamina Morales at her home. I’m very excited to see all of her lovely bead work and weaving and spending time hearing about her relationship with BTS.
I have to say, I am feeling so incredibly lucky to have this opportunity. Meeting all of the different groups of BTS partners here in Guatemala and hearing about their struggles and pain; yet witnessing their perseverance and appreciation for each and every day has been an inspiring and humbling experience to say the least! I am so looking forward to the next 6 days and all the adventures to come!
Gracias!
